The Ultimate Guide to Hiring and Working with a Wedding Brass Band: FAQs Answered
Introduction
Discover the ins and outs of hiring and collaborating with a wedding brass band with our comprehensive guide. From space requirements to song choices and beyond, we've got your FAQs covered.
How much space do you need?
We are a flexible bunch and understand that space is often limited at wedding venues. As a rough guide, we can squeeze into an area that is 4m wide and 3m deep. The bigger the better though! Rest assured, as a wedding brass band we have performed in all sorts of venues, from alpine log cabins to castles and always make the best out of any situation.
Can you reduce your numbers?
This is something that we don't do. Our sound has been honed from hours of rehearsing and recording, and dropping an instrument impacts the overall performance dramatically. We want you to get the full Dizzy Brasscals effect with roaring horn lines and pumping bass lines!
Can we choose what songs you play?
We prefer to select our own sets based on our experience, aiming to create the best atmosphere for your event. However, please let us know if there are any particular favourites we should include or songs you dislike, and we'll do our best to accommodate your preferences.
Can you learn our first dance?
Yes! Included in our evening wedding package is the option to learn and play your first dance. We'll need to know what the song is 2 months in advance to allow time to rehearse and to arrange it for brass. Alternatively, we can simply play your chosen song through our high spec PA and launch straight into our first set following the first dance.
What equipment will you provide?
We are fully self contained! As standard, we bring our high spec PA, microphones and mixing desk to all evening wedding books - so you don't need to worry about a thing. Our speakers pack 2500 watts of power, so are ample for weddings with up to 250 guests.
Can we borrow your microphone for speeches?
This is usually possible. However, keep in mind that a microphone won't be functional if the PA system isn't set up. If you intend to use a microphone, ensure it's when the band is already on-site. If you need access to the PA system earlier, inquire about an early arrival time, acknowledging that there might be an additional cost for arrivals before 5/6pm.
When will you set up?
For evening wedding bookings, the band usually arrive between 5 - 6pm when you and your guests are sitting down for the wedding breakfast. Set up takes around an hour, and can be done discreetly so as not to interrupt your meal or speeches.
How long will you play for?
As standard, we perform 2 sets of 50 minutes each. We usually take a 30 minute break between sets. To ensure the party keeps going, we provide a playlist service between our sets as standard. We also offer a post performance DJ service which is really popular! It saves you the hassle and stress of booking a separate DJ / PA system and works out a lot more better value!
We can look after every element of music for your big day.
